Birmingham Tribunal Unit was established in 1986 as an independent voluntary organisation to provide a free welfare benefits legal service for Birmingham citizens. The organisation is part funded by Birmingham City Council and holds a specialist quality mark and civil contract with the Legal Services Commission to provide free legal help in welfare benefit matters.
We provide free confidential advice and representation at benefit appeal tribunals. In addition we run accredited welfare benefits training courses for advisers based in the Midlands and other parts of the UK.
